Norma Mae Huggins Endowment

On May 24, 2003, Norma Mae Huggins, mother of longtime college basketball coach Bob Huggins, passed away after a long battle with colon cancer.  In her memory, Bob Huggins established the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment. The Endowment supports patient care and clinical cancer research that targets many types of the disease that are common among residents of the Mountain State. West Virginia has one of the highest cancer mortality rates in the nation.

The Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment believes West Virginians deserve a first-class opportunity to fight cancer. Donations are specifically allocated to ensure every patient receives timely, accessible and high-quality care led by the most advanced clinicians across Vandalia Health.

The efforts of Coach Huggins and the commitments of hundreds of others continue to bolster his fund. As of late 2023, over $20 million has been raised for the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment. All proceeds stay here, at home, to help West Virginians.
